The relentless drive launched by Councilor Julian M.L. Coseteng to help protect and secure the safety of his constituents was warmly welcomed by the barangay officials and residents of the 3rd District of Quezon City. A research shows that persons bitten by dogs and have not receive any immediate medical attention have eventually been attacked by rabies, some of which have led to death. Coseteng was aware that something has to be done and this prompted him to launch an intensive anti-rabies campaign as a precautionary measure to help eliminate chances of having any of his constituents face the danger of getting bitten by dogs.
In cooperation with the Quezon City Veterinarian and the barangay officials, the office of Coseteng conducts anti-rabies campaign every Wednesday of the week after its first launching in October 2010. The areas covered by the campaign also include those inside the different subdivisions in the district. Coseteng’s objective is to cover each and every barangay to ensure the success of the anti-rabies campaign.
In November 2010, about 118 dogs have been treated in Barangay Quirino 2B, Barangay Marilag had 38, while Barangay Libis had 82.
